My 2020 Goals

JANUARY 1, 2020

My career as an author has been sidetracked for about 30 years. I intend to make it the priority this year.

My career as an author has been sidetracked for about 30 years. I intend to make it the priority this year. By the end of 2020, I want to have sold at least one of the novels I have in development. I would like to go through traditional publishing first and eventually become a hybrid author, publishing things that I don’t want so much input on. Some of the things I want to publish are commercially appealing to a wide-range of readers. Some are less commercialized and I want them to stay that way.

I would like to be able to release a new chapter of The Adventures of the Andran Company each week. I would also like to develop a few other stories and interactive content on Patreon. I want feedback from readers and I want to know what of my developing projects they would like to see first.

I want to have a regular constituency of subscribers to my website and newsletter of at least 50 people. I want at least that many Patrons, as well. I would very much like to be able to cut my hours at my day job and spend all of that time and energy on creating content for my website and developing the worlds I write. I would like to be able to put out at least one new instructable guide each month and the same number of small writing samples.

I would like to develop a regular presence on social media. I know who I really am but I need to figure out who I want the world to think I am. 😀 I would like to develop a regular schedule for interacting on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

I also want to purge my SocMed accounts and skew them only toward my professional personality. Personal social interactions for me are unnecessary and usually only in person, anyway.

Speaking of which, I would like to start being able to schedule Live Events once a quarter in places farther from home for writing workshops. I can probably manage a once a month closer to home; Tallahassee and the surrounding area. I expect the ones closer to home are going to sometimes be completely writing unrelated and involve BBQ or swimming.

Personally, I would like to be healthier and more fit. I want to be able to hike a mountain trail with my husband and dogs. I would like to travel to places I have not been like Glacier National Park and the Anasazi Ruins of the southwest U.S. I also want to be able to re-plumb my house and replace all of the soft and squishy floors.

What are your achievable goals this year? Happy New Year and may all your efforts bring vast rewards!
